Three Arizona venues, a whole lot of driving, and some seriously unforgettable performances.

There’s something about live music that makes you willing to pack up your gear, drive across the state, stay out way too late, and somehow still be excited to do it all over again the next day.

That’s pretty much how our adventures with Blood Orchid went.

During his September 2026 run through Arizona, TEMP° had the opportunity to catch his performances, photograph the madness, and meet some incredible people along the way.

From the historic Bisbee Grand Hotel to The Century Room at Hotel Congress in Tucson, with his Arizona run also taking him to Yucca Tap Room in Tempe, each stop had its own personality.

And Blood Orchid? He brought the heat every single time.

Bisbee Grand Hotel: A Night to Remember

Our adventure took us to Bisbee on September 20, where Blood Orchid performed at the Bisbee Grand Hotel & Saloon alongside Tio Muerto.

Bisbee already feels like a place where the strange and creative belong. Between the historic buildings, art, and eccentric personality of the town, it couldn’t have been a more fitting setting.

The Bisbee Grand Hotel was a highlight of the experience, and a huge part of that was Steve, the owner.

Seriously, Steve was awesome.

It’s not often that someone leaves such a lasting impression, but his hospitality and welcoming attitude made our time there that much better. Running an independent music venue takes dedication, and it’s refreshing to meet someone who helps make these experiences possible.

The venue itself had so much character, and the night brought together everything we love about independent music: great performances, creative people, and an atmosphere you just can’t manufacture.

Blood Orchid delivered an incredible set, bringing his signature dark, energetic sound and theatrical personality to the stage. Tio Muerto added to an already fantastic night.

We left Bisbee with full memory cards, some great memories, and a new appreciation for the Bisbee Grand.

Steve, you’re the best. We can’t wait to come back.

Tucson: Blood Orchid Takes The Century Room

The following night, September 21, brought Blood Orchid to The Century Room at Hotel Congress in downtown Tucson, joined by Burial Mask and DJ True Drew.

Going from the Bisbee Grand to The Century Room gave us two completely different environments to photograph, which is one of our favorite things about covering multiple shows.

The Century Room has a completely different atmosphere, offering a more intimate performance space within one of Tucson’s most iconic historic hotels.

But regardless of the setting, Blood Orchid’s energy remained unmatched.

His performances are this incredible collision of post-punk, dark alternative, industrial sounds, and a personality that’s equal parts gothic, goofy, and completely unpredictable.

You never really know what you’re going to capture next, which makes photographing him that much more fun.

Every show gave us new angles, new moments, and another opportunity to experiment creatively.

The Arizona Run Continued: Yucca Tap Room

Blood Orchid’s Arizona dates also included Yucca Tap Room in Tempe on September 22, adding another independent venue to the run.

That’s something we really appreciate about artists making their way through Arizona. Each city has its own music community, and venues like Yucca Tap Room are an important part of keeping independent music accessible.

Rather than one big production, these shows offer something more personal. Different rooms, different crowds, and entirely different atmospheres, all connected by the music.

And that’s what made following this run so exciting.

The Man Behind the Music

Outside of the performances, we also had an opportunity to spend time with Blood Orchid and get creative away from the stage.

Including a bathtub photoshoot, because why not?

There’s a wonderfully strange sense of humor behind the dark aesthetic, and getting to experience that personality beyond the performances was one of the most enjoyable parts of the whole experience.

We love working with artists who aren’t afraid to experiment, laugh at themselves, or try something completely unexpected.

Those moments make for some of our favorite photographs because they capture something beyond the usual promotional image.

They’re personal, spontaneous, and a little ridiculous in the best way.

Why We Do This

We weren’t traveling on tour with Blood Orchid. We were making our own trips to the shows, heading back home afterward, dumping memory cards, charging batteries, and getting ready for the next adventure.

It’s a lot of work, especially when you’re balancing the photography, videography, editing, and everything else that goes into running a creative collective.

But experiences like these make it worthwhile.

We got to experience incredible performances, explore venues outside our usual circuit, connect with people who genuinely care about music, and build a creative relationship with an artist whose work we really enjoy.

It’s exactly the type of experience we want TEMP° to be known for.

Not just showing up to document a performance, but getting to know the artists, the venues, and the communities that make these events possible.

A massive thank you to Blood Orchid for bringing an incredible show to every stage and letting us capture the chaos along the way.

Another special thank you to Steve at the Bisbee Grand Hotel for being such an awesome host. People like you make this scene something worth celebrating.

And to Tio Muerto, Burial Mask, the venues, and everyone who came out to support these shows, thank you for being part of what makes Arizona’s independent music scene so special.

More miles on the car, more footage on the hard drives, and more memories to add to the collection.

We wouldn’t have it any other way.
